CHORUS:
Two households, both alike in dignity
(In fair Verona, where we lay our scene)
From ancient grudge break to new mutiny,
Where civil blood makes civil hands unclean.
From forth the fatal loins of these two foes
A pair of star-cross’d lovers take their life
Whose misadventur’d piteous overthrows
Doth with their death bury their parents’ strife.
The fearful passage of their death-mark’d love
And the continuance of their parents’ rage,
Which, but their children’s end, nought could remove,
Is now the two hours traffic of our stage;
The which, if you with patient ears attend,
What here shall miss, our toil shall strive to mend.

LINKS!
Clearinghouse of links for the project. Some sites are still pending, and none are fully developed yet. It's suggested to add Montague Romeo and Juliet Capulet as friends on Facebook-- they'll be your friends back, don't worry-- and subscribe to the Twitter feeds. This is almost everything, maybe one or two sites more. But here you go:

Getting pretty close to being all set up on the technical end of things, just the second part of the scripts to construct. Onward!

Artist's Statement
Concepts:
-Temporal framework of digital landscape versus reality, the sending of information versus the communication of individuals through conversation—how do the means of digital communication impact our sense of temporality and meaningful connection with others? Is the digital landscape purely one of “information,” or can one divulge meaning and significance through digital means?
-The creation of character through digital means, what it means to create a persona online and what relation that persona has to reality—when encountering a digital avatar, does that creation hold any relation to the person behind it, and how is that avatar a “persona” or extension of the physical presence?
-The (dis)ability to perform in a manner that is divorced from the physical body, using the extension of text, voice or image over completely mediated means—how does an actor complete an action through the “digital prosthetic,” and what implications does this hold for the motivations of the actor and her relation to the text, the audience and the action?
-The relation between action and activism within the digital landscape, what it means practically to be a digital activist and how that relates to one’s everyday reality and use of time—the possibilities for being a digital activist when engaging in other activities, both in reality and digitally, and the divide that this may create between physical presence and possibilities for action.
-The possibilities that exist within the digital environment for community and connection, the contrast between real interaction and digital interaction. Specifically: the (dis)ability of an audience to engage in a performance work that is completely divorced from the body—how does the audience follow the action, and what is their relation to a work that is, when encountered, already an instantly archived work? (Regarding the idea of the archive, I am playing with keeping a record of all of the mediated discussion that occurs regarding this project, as an extension of the performance piece, i.e. logging text messages, emails and Tweets sent between actors as an archive of the process behind this work.)

Hello and Welcome.
This site is a commonplace book for my work, pertaining (mostly) to the work of digital performance, the performative digital, the rights of the digital citizen and the interactions between the somewhat shifty landscapes of reality and virtuality.
The first project that this site will be dealing with it a production of Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet, performed entirely across social networking sites, as part of my MA thesis. Links to the various pages will be posted here, as well as the Artist's Statement and other relevant contributions.
First rehearsal of the work will be Sunday, March 15, at 2:30 EST. This page will be the start page for rehearsal activity, as well as the actual performance. (Actual performance date is still pending.)
